TRANSPARENCY IN PUBLIC PROCUREMENT

Transparency in the context of public procurement is considered one of the most effective deterrents to corruption. It is a precondition for ensuring public officials’ accountability. Through the creation of the Procurement Transparency Group (PTG), transparency is aimed at allowing the public widest possible access to information that would enable them to participate in public procurement. It further enables them to examine how the powers vested in procurement officials in Procuring Entities exercise their authority on the basis of set guidelines of public procurement activities.
